A Streetcar Named Desire (2025)

About Me

I am Tim Dougherty, and I invite you to join me on a journey that has led me to the big screen. It has been an adventure-filled trail, one that has enriched me with the emotional knowledge necessary for this demanding new career. Growing up in Queens as the youngest of three, I am grateful for my close-knit family, finding immense joy in the presence of my nieces and nephews, and for the strong work ethic instilled in me. Through discipline and hard work across a variety of pursuits, I have honed my skills and prepared myself for the road that lies ahead.
After graduating from St. Francis Prep, I embarked on a path that took me to SUNY Maritime, where I earned a Mechanical Engineering Degree in 2009 and obtained my USCG Marine Engineering license. During my time at Maritime, I pursued an early passion for basketball and enjoyed a successful varsity career, scoring over 1000 points on the hardwood. Following graduation, I ventured to the sea, spending several months at a time on container ships bound for the Middle East. It was during my "off time" from the sea that I discovered a new passion in amateur boxing. I distinguished myself in various tournaments, most notably as a Golden Gloves contender, finishing as the runner-up in both the heavyweight and super heavyweight divisions. I had the privilege of fighting on renowned stages such as Madison Square Garden and The Barclay Center. Additionally, I take pride in my poker acuity, although I have yet to claim victory in the coveted "big one" tournament I've dreamed of. However, I found mention of it in the book "The Kaizen of Poker: How to Continuously Improve Your Hold'em Game" by Sheree Bykofsky.
Mechanical Engineering, ships, basketball, boxing, uncle-ing, and poker playing—my journey has been anything but predictable. Yet, it was during one particular voyage in December of 2017 that my path took an unexpected turn. I stumbled upon a casting call for "The Irishman" while browsing the internet. Answering the call, hoping for a background slot, I anticipated a fun experience. Although I wasn't cast in that movie, my curiosity grew, and I continued to answer casting calls. Eventually, I found myself in an online commercial as a male nurse in January 2018, followed by featured background work on the show "Sweetbitter." Being on a Hollywood set and immersing myself in a scene fascinated me, and I yearned for more. Shortly after, I found myself on the set of "Eclipse: The Rise of Ink" by Alexander Bok. Due to a sudden emergency with the lead character, the director, pressed for time, approached me as a stand-in. And that was the moment when Timothy Dougherty, the actor, was born.
Currently, while continuing to work as a marine engineer in New York City, I am actively pursuing my passion for acting. I audition, take acting classes, and seize every opportunity to gain more experience in the field. I have had the privilege of studying with esteemed mentors such as David Deblinger, Paul Pryce, Vincent Pastore, Victor Cruz, and Magaly Colimon at HB Studio in the West Village. Furthermore, I have expanded my skills at the New York Film Academy. My ultimate aspiration is to make the transition to becoming a full-time actor and immerse myself completely in the world of film and television.
I invite you to join me on this incredible journey as I continue to chase my dreams and explore the depths of my acting abilities. With your support, I aspire to create compelling stories that evoke genuine emotions and leave a lasting impact on audiences around the world. Thank you for joining me on this exciting path, and I look forward to sharing many memorable moments with you.
